Né à Paris en 1921 d'un père imprimeur lithographe, Maurice Delattre a baigné très jeune dans cette ambiance de chromos et lithos. Sans surprise, il en fera sa profession qu'il exercera tant en France qu'à l'étranger, notamment au Brésil et en Argentine. Dans le même temps, il pratiquera la peinture sous diverses formes (aquarelle, fusain, pastel, huile). Il s'est orienté depuis quelque temps vers le pastel et l’huile qui se prêtent bien à rendre l'ambiance du Pays d'Auge, en Normandie,. Il découvre récemment le Luberon. C'est alors qu'opère le charme de la lumière provençale. Il tombe amoureux de petit villages comme Joucas et Roussillon. C'est donc là qu'il trouve son inspiration et ses modèles.

Born in Paris in 1921. His father was a lithographer, so, as a boy, he was quite familiar with lithographic printing. Naturally, he embraced this profession and practised it in France as well as abroad, particularly in South America. At the same time, he practised painting in various forms such as watercolour, charcoal, pastel and oil painting. He is particularly attracted by pastel which lends itself quite well to expressing the atmosphere of the Pays d'Auge, in Normandy. Recently, he discovered the Luberon. Now, he is captivated by the light of Provence.He fell in love with small villages as Joucas and Roussillon. That is where he now finds the source of his inspiration and the site of his models of oil paintings.
